Popular Coffee Drinks
Cafe Americano
- Essentially a diluted shot of Espresso which maintains the same robust flavour
but can be enjoyed more slowly or with added milk
- Italian cafe owners developed this drink for American Troops after WWII
Cafe Latte
- Literally 'Coffee with milk' the Latte is prepared by pouring hot milk over
one or more shots of espresso
- Unlike a Cappucino, there is very little foamed milk on top
Cappucino
- Traditionally steamed milk poured over espresso with a layer of milk foam on top
- Typically smaller in volume and darker in colour than a Latte
- Named for the colour of the habits of the Capuchin Friars, which the drink should match
Flat White
- Very similar to a Latte, the Flat White is made by pouring steamed milk over
two shots of espresso and topping with a thin layer of microfoam
- Australian and Ne Zealand cafe's have claimed credit for the invention, although
the term has been in use since the 1960s in the UK
